SHOULDING

Yesterday, while conversing with a client about life and what they want in contrast to what they have, my client was 'shoulding' themselves in every other sentence. I didn't say anything at first, as we all do this occasionally; however, the shoulds were intense and almost shaming. I finally asked if they had noticed how they were 'shoulding' all over themselves; they were completely unaware. This made an excellent platform for questioning and bringing awareness to these shoulds and whether they applied or mattered in their lives. Would these 'shoulds' make a difference between being content or discontent, or was it an old rewound tape that had been playing in their minds for so long but was no longer irrelevant?

So I ask you?

Do you should all of yourself? About what?

Is it something YOU care about, or has society, friends, or family told you to care about it?

Do you need to act on this 'should'? Why or why not?

Pay attention to your ‘shoulding’ and lose what isn't serving you.

In other words, can you choose, make a decision and stick with it and stop the unfriendly voice that tells you should all the time?
