Energy

We talked about energy this week in our Health Not Hype group coaching.

Where it comes from and how we lose it. Although there are many answers to this question, and many are hard truths, such as the foods we eat, hydration level, sleep, and exercise, many of the answers can only be individually observed and noted.

I like to take the energy questions a step further and ask you to do some reflection.

When you wake in the morning, regardless of how much sleep you receive, are you excited about your day? If so, do you approach the day with a lot of energy? If you aren’t looking forward to the day ahead, is your energy depleted before you begin?

What about the people you surround yourself with? Do they increase your energy or drain it? My son has a favorite show about vampires, and one of the characters is called an Energy Vampire. Do you have energy vampires in your life? If so, can you limit your time with them or find ways not to let them take yours?

What about your thoughts? Have you ever been moving along through your day, and suddenly, your energy and mood have turned downward? The next time this happens, stop and ask yourself what you have been thinking about the last fifteen minutes or so.

There are many ways to protect our energy and increase or maintain it. Awareness is the key.

Daily questions when your energy starts to become depleted:

1) Have I fueled my body with nutritional sources?

2) How much water have I drank today?

3) Am I enjoying my life today? Practice saying “I get to” rather than “I have to” and see if you feel an energy shift.

4) Who am I around today? Do they fill me with good energy or drain every ounce I have?

5) What have I been thinking about? Is it uplifting and empowering or negative and defeating?

These tips will help in your journey to health and well-being. If you have other ideas, please respond to this blog; we love your thoughts.
